FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

FAQ: FAQ

HOW DO I JOIN THE SOCIETY?

Since we are a society at Rhodes University, you first need to be a registered student at the institution. The various societies on campus host an extravaganza where you'll be able to meet our committee team and find out more about the society. Another event is hosted where you'll be able to sign up with us and become an 'Inkling'. These events are usually held on campus at the beginning of the academic year, around February and March.

DO I HAVE TO BE A MEMBER TO PARTICIPATE?

To join our weekly meetings, you need to be a member. However, for writing retreats, beach days, and other social events, non-members are welcome to join us (subject to an entry fee). Everyone and anyone is welcome to submit their pieces and work to us, either for feedback or to be featured on the blog. We also welcome collaborations.

HOW OFTEN DOES INK SOCIETY MEET?

Every week, usually on a Tuesday, at the Department of Literary Studies in English at Rhodes University.

Additionally, we host workshops once a term and participate in community engagement projects twice a year.

ARE THE EVENTS AND MEETINGS COMPULSORY?

Nope. We do, however, encourage all members to join us every week to allow for fruitful discussions and debates. By participating every week, one fosters connections with other members, so this is a great way to make new friends and expose yourself to newer and different perspectives.
