1. AKA “micro-fiction, is a story of extreme brevity, that tells a condensed, yet complete narrative”

2. Popular genres include romance, thrillers, horror, and science fiction

3. End in the middle! This allows readers time to consider the situation along with the narrator, and ruminate on the decisions his characters have taken.

4. Powerful last line

5. Create a story chunk and then narrow it down

Characteristics

1. 500-1000 words in length but can be as few as 50

2. Remove superfluous words (pretend it’s a tweet)

3. Use an emotion or image to shape the story

4. Few scenes and characters

5. One POV if possible

6. Begin in the middle of the plot/story/conflict

7. Snazzy title is imperative
